Earning Quick, Lifetime Certifications

Barry earned CompTIA A+ and Net+ under deadline
Although he knew we won’t be graduating with his IT degree until 2012, Barry Ross, 21, was thinking long-term in August 2010 when he discovered CompTIA’s new rules. The organization announced anyone earning their certifications before 2011 would have them deemed “good for life;” however, any earned afterwards would have to be renewed every three years to stay valid.

With less than 100 days left in 2010, Barry thought back to how his college instructors had told him CompTIA’s A+ and Network+ Certifications were among his must haves. Thinking it would ultimately be a times saver – and despite his school workload and having to make ends meet with a part-time sales rep job – he still decided to go for lifetime status.

But it wasn’t easy.

“I was never good at taking tests,” said Barry. “But QuickCert’s courses were very easy to understand and follow.”

Barry studied for his A+ and Network+ exams concurrently and during his extra time by using the training course DVD packages QuickCert sent to his house. And because he knew he was the type who could use extra help and motivation, he took advantage of QuickCert’s Live Instructor Support (LIS).

“I got where Chuck [the LIS instructor] was coming from and he took what first seemed to be complicated and used a hands-on approach to break it down into layman’s terms,” said Barry of LIS. “Chuck also spent extra time with me on certain topics, as well as gave me test taking tips.”

Furthermore, by attending the live webinars and watching those archived, Barry could literally see firsthand how Chuck performed the tasks.

The results tell the story. In November Barry passed his A+ exam on his very first try. He followed that up less than 30 days later when he passed his Network+ exam … also on his first try.

“I just want to thank QuickCert – and especially Chuck – for helping me earn my ‘lifetime’ CompTIA Certifications.”
